Steve Eversfield MSc, MAPM

I’m a seasoned executive coach with over three decades of experience in military leadership and high-performance coaching. My career has taken me through complex, high-pressure environments — from leading operational logistics and strategic planning to steering large-scale programmes — and these experiences have shaped how I work with individuals, executives, leaders, and teams today.

My style is creative, engaging, and often fun, because the science backs it up: when we enjoy ourselves, our brains release dopamine, reduce stress hormones, and open up neural pathways that make learning stick. Fun isn’t a gimmick — it’s a neurological gateway to deeper insight, better problem-solving, and lasting behavioural change.

I blend strategic insight with imaginative tools like Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®, encouraging clients to think beyond the status quo. Whether we’re reframing challenges through metaphor or building a vision in LEGO, these playful approaches help break down mental barriers and spark fresh thinking.

I’m known for creating a safe, supportive space where people feel confident enough to challenge assumptions, take calculated risks, and explore bold new ideas. My background in high-stakes environments means I bring calm, clarity, and focus — even when the pressure is on.

Whether I’m coaching an individual, mentoring an emerging leader, guiding an executive, or facilitating a team, my goal is the same: to help people and organisations achieve sustainable high performance through reflection, creativity, and action. Based in Andover, Hampshire, I work across industries, delivering transformation — with a little curiosity, a lot of insight, and more than a touch of fun along the way.

My Coaching Offer:

As an executive coach with a rich background in military leadership, project management, and high-performance coaching, I provide tailored coaching solutions designed to empower individuals and teams to reach their full potential. My approach is rooted in fostering a culture of confidence, innovation, and inclusivity, enabling leaders to take calculated risks while driving sustainable high performance in their organizations.

My Coaching Philosophy and Approach:

I believe that coaching is about unlocking potential and encouraging personal and professional growth through self-awareness and self-directed change. My coaching style is built on years of experience, particularly from my military background, where I led teams in high-pressure environments. In these roles, I learned the importance of clear communication, strategic planning, and maintaining composure during uncertainty—skills I bring to my coaching practice.

My coaching process is centred on:

  • Creating a Safe and Supportive Environment: I emphasise building trust and psychological safety so that you can feel comfortable exploring your thoughts, ideas, and challenges without fear of judgment. This in turn allows you to engage in authentic self-reflection and personal development.
  • Challenging Assumptions and Thought Patterns: As a disruptive thinker, I will encourage you to challenge your existing thought processes and assumptions. By doing so, you will become better equipped to innovate and think outside of conventional frameworks, ultimately fostering creativity and strategic agility.
  • Promoting High Performance: My coaching promotes the development of high-performance habits. Drawing from my experience in leadership and performance coaching, I will work with you to identify areas of growth, develop resilience, and enhance your capacity to lead effectively in complex environments.
  • Encouraging Risk-Taking and Inclusivity: In today's rapidly changing business environment, leaders must be willing to take risks and embrace diversity of thought. My coaching empowers individuals to make confident decisions and encourages inclusive leadership, fostering environments where different perspectives are valued and leveraged for organisational success.

Coaching vs. Mentoring

It's important to differentiate between coaching and mentoring, as they serve distinct purposes. Mentoring is about sharing knowledge, providing advice, and guiding individuals through career paths based on experiences. Mentoring tends to be more directive, with the mentor offering advice and insights that the mentee can follow.

Coaching, on the other hand, is a more collaborative and non-directive process. Rather than offering advice, as a coach, I will ask powerful questions that help you unlock your own solutions. My role as a coach is to facilitate growth through reflection and self-discovery, allowing you to develop the skills and confidence to overcome challenges on your own terms. In coaching, the focus is not on imparting my experience but rather on helping you harness your own potential to find creative and effective solutions.

Where mentoring may provide a roadmap based on past experiences, coaching will equip you with the ability to create your own maps, tailored to your unique situations, strengths, and aspirations. This results in a more personalised, dynamic process where you are empowered to take ownership of your own development.
